Singer Jose Chameleone has no case to answer, according to our highly placed police source. Xclusive UG has learnt that the DPP’s office has
concluded that the super singer did not kill Robert Karamagi according to the General Enquiry File (GEF) in their hands. After weeks of the
file review and serious study, Chameleone and his wife Daniela will be let off the hook. Immediately after Robert Karamagi was burnt or burnt
himself at Chameleone’s Seguku home, the singer rushed to Kajjansi Police Station and reported a case of Criminal Trespass.
However late Karamagi’s relatives reported to the Police station that their son was tied and set ablaze by Chameleone and his group. But according to our source this will be dismissed. Our source also tells us that most of the said evidence provided was rejected. For example a boy’s tale that
he watched from first the gate, then a nearby tree as Chameleone and his group burnt Karamagi to death has been blatantly dismissed. Two
questions arose as regards to this matter.
The tree talked about is on the wrong side of where Karamagi was allegedly burnt. Secondly DPP’s office wondered how a thirteen year old could be out and about at 5am when Karamagi was allegedly burnt. Our police source further tells us that the full investigation report from DPP’s office about the incident could be out before the end of this week. Ever since the incident late last year, Jose Chameleone has been on tenterhooks. The
files includes all who had something to say and basing on evidence collected which has been analyzed and it is guarded a top secret.
Meanwhile police has strongly dismissed suggestions that Chameleone could have compromised some of the investigators. A statement from
police reads: “We
They allege that Police cannot arrest Chameleone. We would like to take this opportunity to inform the nation, that when the incident of Robert Karamagi happened at Chameleone’s home in Kajjansi. Chameleone reported a case of Criminal Trespass at Kajjansi Police Station, a file was opened to that effect. When Karamagi passed on, the relatives reported to the Police station that their son was tied and set ablaze by Jose and his group. We opened up a General Enquiry File (GEF) to that effect. Both files were taken over by the Regional Police Commander, based in Katwe. The investigations were completed.
We have assembled both files and sent to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for perusal and legal advice. We are waiting for his advice. The question of our officer being a fan of Jose does not arise as the files are no longer in the hands of Kajjansi Police but the Regional Police Commander. We what to assure the general public that in Uganda Police we do not favor or fear anyone while carrying out our duties. Whether, one is of a high class or low class.
The constitution mandates us to serve everybody equally. When Chameleone’s file comes back from the DPP that he should be arrested, we shall do that without hesitation. Meanwhile Chameleone had reported a case of criminal trespass but when Karamagi died it ended Chameleone case to the murder case.
Meanwhile, Dr Jose Chameleone’s latest single “Badilisha” is doing well on most radios stations and according to statistics with US based
Soundcloud, it’s currently the most downloaded Ugandan song.
