BBC Votes Bebe Cool’s Song No 15 In Africa’s All Time 50 Greatest Hits

Much respected British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has voted Ugandan singer Bebe Cool’s rendition of late Philly Bongole Lutaya’s Born in Africa at number fifteen on the list of Africa’s greatest songs of all time.

To mark the 50th anniversary of the African Union – formerly the Organisation of African Unity, BBC World Service listeners suggested the African songs that summed up the continent to them.

From the suggestions, the BBC’s DJ Edu, who hosts a weekly African music show on BBC radio, compiled them into a special five-minute mix of 50 songs from 50 countries. Bebe Cool performed the song in London during Nelson Mandela’s 90th birthday.
