Kampala City Council Authority (KCCA) and Uganda Police have banned all outdoor musical concerts effective IMMEDIATELY. However Xclusive UG can reveal star singer Dr. Jose Chameleone’s Tubonge Concert set for Cricket Oval Lugogo will go on as planned this Friday.
But very reliable sources have told this website that outdoor venues like the oval and Kyadondo Rugby Club will not hold musical gigs anymore. “All concerts must take place at Mandela National Stadium,” the source revealed. Late last year we exclusively told how Kyadondo Rugby Grounds had been banned.
KCCA and Police insist that the main reasons for banning outdoor concerts from the city centre are noise pollution, poor time management and contaminating the green environment around Lugogo. Usually concertsin Kampala are meant to end by midnight but this has rarely happened.
For example when Bebe Cool battled Good Lyfe in the battle of champions, he (Bebe) performed till 4am. This was four hours on the wrong side of time management. This, Police and KCCA, insist is unacceptable. In fact we understand some top musicians like Bebe Cool have already been informed about this new development. It is no wonder Bebe will host his gig dubbed, The Best of Bebe Cool, at indoor Serena Hotel.
Even Desire Luzinda will hold her at Serena. Now it remains to be clear whether other concerts already planned to take place outdoor will take place. Despite their differences Moze Radio and Weasel intend to hold the latest album Tuka Tuka at Hotel Africana People’s Space. Watch this space!
