Tax body Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) has released a list of tax defaulters who could face arrest. The list of the 178 is described as the top tax defaulters in Uganda. The named defaulters on the shame list have been ordered to report to URA debt collection office within seven days or risk arrest.

The list includes high profile citizens including  Abid Alam, the man behind Steel Rolling Mills. He has defaulted taxes worth shs56 million. The list also includes Mohhamed Ssebagala, the Ssebaggala and Sons Electro Centre who has defaulted on shs17 million.

Others include;

S.K Holding boss Stephen Kayemba (shs8 million),

boss Anatoli Kamigisha (shs659m), Kellen Kayongo’s Askar
Security Services (shs95m).
Interestingly the defunct Eagles Production band is also listed.

The singing group recently split but its directors were Musa Kavuma,
Mesach Semakula, Geoffrey Lutaya, and Ronald Mayinja. They are short of shs25 million.

The popular Bombo Road Emerald Hotel has defaulted a whopping shs243 million.
The list also includes showy Sulaiman Mbuka aka SK Mbuga. He has defaulted taxes worth shs192 million.

Mohammed Hamid, the Aya Brothers boss has defaulted shs62 million.
Celebrated city lawyer Bob Kasango is also in trouble over shs350 million.

Allen Kagina, the URA Commissioner General, last month warned that they would publish a “shame list” to recover unpaid taxes.
