For the last few seasons Big Brother Africa has had little impact on the continent. Its ratings have taken a disturbing downward spiral!
It is with little wonder that Multichoice Uganda officials have now resorted to begging Ugandans, especially celebrities, to audition for Big Brother season 9. Uganda auditions started yesterday and are stil
l taking place at The Sheraton Hotel but turn up has been worryingly low.
And as a result Multichoice bosses, led by PRO Tina Wamala, have spent the most of today begging (on phone) uninterested celebrities and other Ugandans to audition. Some of the fellas that have been asked to audition include; Sabiiti Bryan Mackenzie, DJ Aluda, Singer Toniks among so many others.
However even these people have still not attended.
Oursources at Sheraton tell us that yesterday only a handful attended the auditions, something that sent Multchoice into panic.
The ninth edition of Africa’s biggest reality series Big Brother Africa kicks off in September.
But unlike other seasons, no much is being talked about regarding the reality telly show.
The times of Multchoice unearthing, nurturing and recognizing talent from around the continent through Biggie seem over. Even for the last few seasons, Uganda’s representatives have failed to make the cut. Since the inception of the show, only Gaetano Kaggwa can pass a celebrity. And he represented Uganda in the very last season. One might argue that Sharon O Nalukenge is a celebrity too. But we all know she went in the house as a celebrity. The other housemates like Hannington Kuteesa, Maureen Namatovu, Maurice Mugisha are completely forgotten people.
All signs indicate it could be worse with season nine.
