Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) has told businessman Sully Mbuga that he can pay Shs88 million from the Shs219 million they originally demanded from him in taxes.

For the last few months URA and the businessman have been involved in ‘running battles’ over taxes.

Mbuga was a few months ago listed as one

of the main tax defaulters in Uganda.

Then weeks ago, the tax body stormed his home in Buziga as they looked to confiscate his powerful Hummer vehicles. Then it was revealed that URA was demanding a whopping shs219 million in tax arrears.

But while chatting to this website, the businessman told us that he has been told to pay shs88 million. However he said he was still contesting this amount which he feels is way too exorbitant.
