Departed Internal Affairs Minister Gen Aronda Nyakairima was later today Sunday afternoon (9/20/2015)  laid to rest at his ancenstral home in Rukungiri District.

A dark cloud hovered over South Western Uganda as thousands of mourners paid tribute to the country’s most respected military general and ex Chief of Defence Forces.

President Museveni who groomed the deceased said he was not satisfied that Aronda’s death was unavoidable.

security officials graced the function.

Internal Affairs State Minister James Baba said Aronda had embarked on a huge campaign of building capacity in police to deal with sophisticated crime.

Aronda was buried with full military honours including a gun salute that excited locals.

THE PRESIDENT:

The President said had government learnt that he had earlier suffered from heart attacks and hypertension, Aronda’s life would have been possibly saved.

THE WIDOW:

Mrs. Linda Aronda, said she was not sure whether her late husband was “welcomed with wide arms since he never liked corruption and the Ministry of Internal Affairs was in a bad state.”

She described her husband as loving and caring ‘gentleman.’

THE CDF: 

The Chief of Defence Forces Gen Katumba Wamala asked military personnel to emulate Gen Aronda’s selflessness and patriotic conduct.

RELATIVES:

Relatives of the deceased said he would participate in raising funds for construction of churches and supporting the vulnerable.
