THE ELECTORAL Commission (EC) has today cleared President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to stand for president in the 2016 elections after the signatures his party NRM submitted from the over 100 districts were verified and cleared.
In a certificate of clearance issued today (October 2) by Electoral Commission boss Eng. Dr. Badru Kiggundu, President Yoweri Museveni had complied as persection 10 (1) b and (10) 3 of the Presidential Elections Act (as amended).
“The EC has verified at least (100) signatures from each of the 2/3 of all districts in Uganda and complies,” said Kiggundu in the letter.
Meanwhile other aspirants former prime minister Amama Mbabazi and FDC’s Kizza Besigye were also cleared.
