FORMER UGANDA Cranes star striker Geoffrey Massa survived death by a whisker after his car was shot at by police while he sped off from a sex crime scene.
His car, a Toyota Prado UAY670B, was continuously shot at injuring his lover Josephine Maliza in the process. The 25 year old girl is currently admitted at Gwatiro Hospital in Bweyogerere while Massa who hit his bulky head on the car dashboard has been discharged.
The shooting happened last night along Kakajo, Bweyogerere a Kampala suburb.
According to eyewitnesses, police fired bullets at Massa’s car when he tried to race and knocked a police motorcycle.
The car had been found parked at the Namboole flyover with occupants naked. As soon as Massa realised police was upon him, he and his lover hurriedly dressed up and raced the car prompting police to follow.
According to Police spokesperson Asan Kasingye confirmed the incident.
“The lady is alive in and being treated,and the other events are true,” Kasingye said.
A statement from police reads:
“Last night July 13th, 2017, there was an incident in which police on patrol suspecting a parked vehicle along the high way on the Nambole Fly Over, stopped and wanted to talk to the occupants. It’s reported that the driver, Geofrey Massa sped off in a rush sending more suspicion. In an attempt to stop them, officers attempted to shoot the tyres of the vehicle and subsequently injured the lady in the vehicle.
He, Geoffrey Massa suddenly stopped, almost hit another motorist and allegedly hit his forehead on the windscreen, injuring himself. He rushed to a nearby clinic called GWATIRO and he has received medical attention.
The woman friend, one JOSEPHINE MALIZA, appropriately 25 years old got a bullet wound and is equally getting treatment at the same facility. She is not dead, not even in critical condition according to reports got from the medical teams handling them. The police have opened a General Enquiry File (GEF) to establish the truth behind the incident. We shall keep all informed accordingly.”
