The five  Pepper Publications Limited directors Richard Tusiime, James Mujuni, Patrick Mugumya, Arinaitwe Rugyendo and Johnson Musinguzi Byarabaha, alongside the three editors Ben Byarabaha, Richard Kintu, and Francis Tumusiime are still held at Nalufenya Police Station in Jinja.

According to

Red Pepper company lawyer Denis Nyombi, the eight were made to record charge and caution statements on the following counts: Treason,  Annoying the person of Gen.Salim Saleh, Annoying the person of Gen. Tumukunde, Offensive communication and  Publication of a story that’s prejudicial to the security of the country.

“As soon as they finished responding to these days trumped up  charge and caution statements, they were thrown back in police vans and driven back to Nalufenya,”  Nyombi said.

On Monday Red Pepper published a lead story in which they claimed President Yoweri Museveni was plotting to overthrow Rwanda leader President Paul Kagame.
