If you are one of those that follow Ugandan businessman Patrick Bitature on social media, you must know that every day, the businessman offers a tip on success.
For the first time the hugely successful businessman has revealed one thing he has been doing for twenty years that has made him a good leader and certainly a successful businessman.
Bitature reveals that to be a successful leader, one must connect with people.
He wrote on Facebook: “To be a leader, you need to connect with people. They must feel that they are part of the team. When you say ‘hello’ or ‘how are you?’ don’t just say it out ofroutine. Mean it.
You need to really empathize with people. If they have had a bad day, find out what’s wrong, and if somebody is smart, compliment them. If you notice something about them, say it.
I began doing this with my staff about 20 years ago, and it has helped me build a great team so we could grow to where we are today.”
