Star musician Joseph Mayanja alias Jose Chameleone has revealed he supported President Yoweri Museveni’s 2016 presidential bid only for the money.
Singer Chameleone was part of Museveni’s highly oiled campaign team that combed the country searching for votes.
The artiste, alongside other musicians, also composed the President’s campaign anthem Tubonga Naawe.
The musicians, it was reported, were paid in excess of Shs3 billion for the whole project.
Whileperforming at the Masaka Street Jam, Chameleone revealed it was only for the money.
“I couldn’t turn down the money I was offered for Tubonga Naawe. I’m for people power, our power,” the singer roared to the excitement of revellers, before he led them to People Power chants.
Earlier in the week, Chameleone had declared himself the vice president of fellow singer Bobi Wine’s People Power wave.
This will come as very terrible news for the ruling NRM party which was banking on top musicians like Chameleone and Bebe Cool to contain Bobi’s surging popularity.
