Sudan’s top soccer club El Merriekh is in Uganda ahead of their CAF Champions League second leg clash with our own Vipers FC come this Wednesday.
The team jetted in on Saturday afternoon and is staying at the plush Pearl of Africa Hotel, located on Lugard Road Plot 10 Nakasero Hill Kampala, Uganda.
Our sources at the hotel says that the 33 strongman contingent will be supported by fans from South Sudan, especially Juba who are expected to come in their droves.
Wednesday’s match will be played at St Marys Stadium Kitende.
Vipers faces an uphill task trying to overturn a 2 – 1 defeat it suffered at the hands of the Sudanese team last Thursday. Only a win will guarantee the Ugandan side safe passage to the next round.
When questioned why the team choose the plush hotel which is more less a class of luxury, the a club official told us that the importance of Wednesday’s game, El Merriekh is accompanied bythe club’s Vice President, Muhammad Musa El Kundo who himself made a choice of the plush hotel in Uganda and El Merriekh needed to practice on the grounds of those they are familiar to before the clash thus Pearl Of Africa Hotel being their best fit.
The club’s Vice President also met with Pearl of Africa Hotel boss, Chairman Mohammed Hamid who also doubles as Aya Investments boss, after the arrival of the team.
It is said that the Sudanese outfit is without inform striker, Bakri El Madina who will miss the 5th December tie through injury, while Niger’s Majid Soumana will not feature. It is not clear why he won’t be playing.
By press time the team was already setting off for a small fit training at the Hotel’s Luxurious mega wellness center which doubles with two state of the art swimming pools, a Spa and a Gym.
