What Multichoice Says
According to MultiChoice, the prices were revised due to “consumer inflation and current economic pressures” in the country.
Ugandans, on the other hand, have reacted negatively to the increase, claiming that Multichoice is not being considerate, given that many people are struggling and that the current inflation has left them with little cash to spend on non-essentials.
And rightly so.
And many are exploring various alternatives in order to dump the ‘exploitative’ MultiChoice.
Another replied: “No doubt. Afterall DStv offers nothing other than football. They over repeat their old bi- movies all the time.”
Others were quick to comment that other alternatives even have much more Sports and cheaply.
“With beIN or even internet connections you watch more sport that what DStv offers. These chaps are simply thieves,” a Facebook comment read.
Another added: “This level of insensitivity is beyond humanity. How dare them? If a company can’t realise and stand with people who are struggling financially deserves no customer.”
Public Reaction
Another furious one described the increment as illegal.
This is the second time in a year that Multichoice has raised its fees, having done so on September 6, 2021.
