According to the president Ms Ssemukutu, we have very beautiful tourist attractions that need to be marked to the rest of the world. Speaking to the press at the flag off of the bikers, she said, “We are here today to flag off the team that is going to South Africa for a trip dubbed ‘Ubuntu Adventure Tourism Ride’. We as bikers want to promote the tourism industry in Uganda, look at the beautiful falls that we have, many people don’t know how beautiful Uganda and this is what we want people to know so we want to promote Uganda by telling them about the tourism that we have.

In the last two years we were hit by the covid pandemic so this is the perfect time to market this country and show her potential and her beauty, things out there that people don’t know about. As we embark on the 15,000km journey, we are going to pick a leaf from all the things we shall see in different coutries, see, what they are doing differently that we can bring back to Uganda but most importantly tell them about Uganda.”
Morrison Ssenyange, the acting technical director at UBA emphasizes that they not only ride for fun but also for a cause. “As we set out to the south, we shall promote Ugandan tourism, spread the love, but also, talk about what we stand for, HIV, Cancer, and road safety awareness. This ride is also to commemorate our fallen brother the former speaker of parliament Jacob Oulanyah who was a member of the Uganda Bikers Association.
About Uganda Bikers Association
Uganda Bikers Association (UBA) was started in 2003 by a group of motorcycle enthusiasts, both local and expatriate, who realised that while riding for fun, they could also ride for a cause.
UBA was formed to promote and create awareness on road safety for riders but also to create a platform to enjoy riding a two-wheeler.
UBA currently has a standing membership of over 60 members (a combination of men and women) and as an association is attuned to the societal pressures that further inform its on-going charitable initiatives within the communities where many of the rides happens.
