The annual Tugende Mu Kikadde has embarked on celebrating Uganda’s veteran musicians on a regional basis.
‘Tugande Mu Kikadde’, is a Luganda phrase that can be loosely translated to mean ‘Back to Roots’. The event was established to celebrate legendary artists that dominated the Ugandan musical scene in the early 1970s, 1980s, and 1990.
The event gives a platform to veteran musicians who would have the desire to astound crowds again but don’t have the resources and know-how.
Afrigo Band, Fred Ssebatta, Chance Nalubega, Mariam Ndagire, Kabuye Sembogga, Halima Namakula, Madoxx Ssematimba, Willy Mukabya, Angela Kalule, Sweet Kid, Akiiki Romeo, Ziggy Dee, Lady Mariam Tindatine, Abdul Mulasi, and many others have taken center stage in the event for the past five years.
