KABALE –Police in Kabale district have reported the suspected drowning of a 37-year-old individual whose body was found floating in the waters of River Rwabakazi in Rushaki cell on the 30th of October 2023.
The deceased has been identified as Charles Twinomujuni, also known as Karoli, a resident of Rubira “1” cell in Katokye parish, Kyanamira sub-county, Kabale district.
ASP Elly Maate, the Kigezi region police spokesperson, alleges that on Monday, the 30th of October 2023, the body of an unidentified adult male was discovered floating in the waters of River Rwabakazi by local residents who promptly informed the OC (Officer in Charge) of Mwanjari police station.
Upon receiving this information, the OC contacted Kabale CPS (Central Police Station), and the Homicide team, under the command of the OC CID (Officer in Charge of Criminal Investigations) Deputy Superintendent Mukama, was dispatched to Rushaki cell. They were accompanied by the fire brigade officer and the police surgeon.

Maate told Xclussiveug reporter that the body was retrieved from the water, and upon examination, it was identified by the deceased’s brother, Niwagaba Maxim, to be that of Twinomujuni Charles, also known as Karoli, who had a history of mental disorder.
Maate added that the body was then examined and handed over to the relatives for a proper burial. Inquiries into the matter are ongoing, and the case has been officially registered at Kabale CPS under reference number CRB: 830/2023.
