KABALE –There was pomp and circumstance today as The Very Rev Can Obed Turihohabwe was inducted as the new Dean of St. Peter’s Cathedral Deanery Rugarama.
The induction service was conducted at St. Peter’s Cathedral Rugarama in Northern Division in Kabale Municipality of Kabale district.Preaching during the service, Rev Can Reuben Byomuhangi, the head of the House of Clergy in the Diocese of Kigezi, asked the new Dean and other leaders to be accountable in their respective roles. He asked The Very Rev Can Turihohabwe to follow in the footsteps of the Creator, embracing faithfulness by preaching and serving the Lord. Rev Can Byomuhangi urged him to shun discriminating against Christians based on their social status.

He also urged Christians to refrain from engaging in corruption tendencies that are negatively impacting the church, families, and the country at large.
Meanwhile, the Bishop of the Diocese of Kigezi, Rt. Rev. Gaddie Akanjuna who officiated at the function, advised the newly inducted Dean to be trustworthy in his new role and rely on God as the provider and source of his strength at all times.
The appointment of Turihohabwe to the office came after nearly 23 years since St. Peter’s Cathedral Deanery had a dean in 2000 – the late Rev Can Andrew Rukashazya.
The function for the induction of the Cathedral Dean who also heads order and worship in the diocese, was attended by among others Emeritus Bishops Enock Kayeye and Dr William Rukirande, clergy, politicians and people from all walks of life.
