The third edition of the Children’s Climate Change March was successfully organized by Uganda’s Little Hands Go Green on 11th November 2023 at KCCA City Hall.
Uganda’s Little Hands Go Green, a civil society organization that has dedicated the past decade to promoting a green future for children, played a key role in coordinating the event. With a network of 450 schools in Kampala and over 100,000 Green Ambassadors across 40 districts in Uganda, Little Hands Go Green is the largest child-led civic engagement organization in Uganda and East Africa.

The purpose of the march was to amplify the voices of the Green Ambassadors and reaffirm their commitment to a healthier Uganda. It served as a celebration of the children’s efforts in driving conservation and environmental protection in their schools, homes, and communities. Little Hands Go Green, in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and KCCA, aims to support the government’s efforts in creating sustainable schools, homes, and communities. They also strive to empower and nurture well-rounded children who believe that the environment is their future and their responsibility.
The Children’s Climate Change March was graced by over 3000 primary school children representing over 87 Primary schools who marched to add their voices to the bigger cry to save our environment.
During the event, Deputy Speaker Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa flagged off the march, and participants marched for 2 kilometers around Kampala to demonstrate their solidarity for environmental protection. Riham Uganda, a prominent soft drink manufacturer, commended Uganda’s Little Hands Go Green for educating children about the importance of preserving the environment.
In a tweet, Riham expressed their appreciation for Little Hands Go Green’s work and the dedication of its partners in promoting environmental conservation for a better future.
Little Hands Go Green also remembered the late Jacob Oulanya, the former speaker of parliament, who passionately participated in and supported the Children’s Climate Change March in 2019.
“We recognize and appreciate our esteemed partners, Hariss International, the renowned makers of Oner Juice & Krystal Mineral Water, Sumz Crisps, Tropical Heat Snacks, Gorillos, and Lato Milk. Their valuable support and collaboration have been instrumental in the success of Children’s Climate Change March,” a statement from Little Hands Go Green reads.
