NBS TV and Talent Africa have regretfully announced the postponement of the UB40 Ft Ali Campbell event scheduled for December 21, 2023.
The abrupt cancellation stems from a presidential event set for Wednesday, December 20, which coincides with the planned soundchecks and setup. The chosen venue, Kololo, faces a unique challenge as over 1000 cars are parked for inspection in preparation for the NAM and G77 conferences. These vehicles cannot be moved, creating a significant obstacle to the event setup. The stringent standards required by the UB40 production team for an international artist cannot be met under these circumstances, as stated in a Tuesday announcement by the organizers.
The organizers express their commitment to mitigating the impact of this cancellation and are actively exploring potential alternative dates for the event. A joint statement emphasizes the high value placed on the partnership with the audience, seeking understanding during these unforeseen challenges. The statement assures continued dedication to delivering exceptional events and promises to keep the public updated on any developments regarding rescheduling.
Before scheduling the concert, concerns were raised about the identity of the performer coming to Kampala, with the original band disowning Ali Campbell.
