In 2016, renowned television star Miles Apuuli Rwamiti contested for Kampala mayorship.
Having lost to eventual and perennial winner Erias Lukwago, Rwamiti decided he would try out something new come the next election.
In 2021, he went back to his roots and instead contested for member of Parliament for Hoima East Constituency.

Both times (2016 and 2021), Rwamiti was opposition leaning, particularly affiliated to the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC). Over time, photos and videos of him in the company of opposition stalwart Dr. Kizza Besigye always made the rounds.
He was a renowned oppositionist.

But this could be history. Well, judging by recent activities captured on camera. For the past few months, Rwamiti has been practically inseparable from Hajjati Hadijja Namyalo, the head of Office of National Chairman (ONC).

ONC- establishment in accordance with Chapter 4, Clause 14, Subsection 1 of the NRM party Constitution- is an organ of the ruling NRM.
Its primary purpose is to provide substantial support to the National Chairman, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in effectively implementing the party’s principles, policies, and other endeavour that contribute to the betterment of the NRM
And as told, for the past few months, Rwamiti has been practically inseparable with the ONC head Hajjati Namyalo, sending tongues wagging with in opposition circles that the TV presenter could have crossed to NRM.
According to close pals, Rwamiti believes he could have a better chance of elevating his political career once he joins the ruling NRM.

At one point, Rwamiti was pictured alongside Namyalo and Buganda Kingdom Prime Minister Hon. Charles Peter Mayiga, who lately has been under intense fire from a section of opposition leaning youths who accuse him of being in bed with NRM.
Clearly, Rwamiti’s recent association with NRM bigwigs is a sign.
We contacted him for a comment, so far no response.
