Police has carried out an operation targeting a criminal gang that has been using pangas in the Kampala Metropolitan South area with several arrests.
The suspects were arrested with sharp pangas, machetes among others.

The arrested include;
- Sekibuule Bakari (25 years old), a resident of Bunamwaya Ngobe village in Makindye Sabagabo, was apprehended on August 11, 2024, in Nateete. Bakari has admitted to being part of another gang that includes members named Robert, Boy, Dube, Hakim, and Muzamir.
- Kyeyune Robert (21 years old), who resides in Mwenda, Bulenga, Wakiso District, was arrested in Jeza along Mityana Road.
- Ssemanda Kadiidi (alias Gideon, 23 years old) from Bulenga, Wakiso, was also taken into custody in Bujuuko. He was found with a bag containing burglary tools, including master keys and a hood for concealing his face.
- Mayanja Hakim (32 years old) from Bunga in Makindye Division was arrested after a search at a rented house in Gogonya B zone, Bulenga A parish, Wakiso District, which was being used as a storage facility by the gang.

During a search, Police recovered various items, including:
4 sharp pangas (3 new and 1 old)
1 black head sock
2 face masks
1 sharp knife
1 pair of pliers
Various burglary tools
3 different types of torches
Assorted keys
7 wall-mounted TV stands
1 PlayStation remote
2 Airtel SIM cards
2 passport photos of Kibirango Derrick
3 cracked screen guards
1 army camouflage jacket.
