The Aya Group of Companies that once fully owned a state-of-the-art wheat flour mill within its industrial complex at Bombo Road, Kawempe, Kampala, has gotten back to business again.
The factory once boasted of producing 500 metric tons per 8-hour shift of flour and animal feeds ingredients.
After settling its troubles the group has said they are back yet again to produce the same this time with efficiency for both the Ugandan and sub-regional market which includes Uganda, Rwanda, Democratic Republic of Congo and South Sudan. The factories operate two shifts per day.

Aya Group, was established more than 25 years ago, and has since been an award-winning investor in the manufacturing, baking, transport, property and hospitality industries.
It has long experience, a proven track record in project implementation and owns the powerful “Aya” brand that is a market leader in the milling and baking industry.
Aya Flour Mills Limited produces Baker’s Flour in 50kg and 25kg polypropylene bags for the baking industry, Home Baking Flour in branded 2kg packets for retail consumers, and wheat pollard and wheat bran, which are valuable ingredients in high demand for animal feed production throughout the East African sub-region.
The Best Choice of flour
Aya wheat flour is already well known throughout Uganda, Rwanda, South Sudan, Democratic Republic of Congo and Northern Tanzania, because it is the flagship product of Pan Afric Commodities Limited, another Aya Group company. Increasing demand for Aya flour over the years made it necessary for the Group to satisfy its customers by progressive investment in a major plant expansion to increase its capacity from the original 120 tonnes of flour a day to 1,000. The Aya Flour Mills Limited has been able toimport and commission state-of-the-art equipment from Europe to set an even higher standard in premium quality wheat flour for Uganda and its neighbours, creating new employment opportunities, promoting value-added production of wheat products, and earning foreign exchange for Uganda through regional exports.
AYA Wheat Flour on the Market
The principal reason reason why Aya Wheat Flour has been a market leader since its launch more than 25 years ago has been its concentration on consistent high-quality flour.
And a key factor in the achievement of this consistent quality has been the long-standing business partnership with the world’s leading manufacturer and supplier of quality wheat milling and processing equipment, Ocrim. Aya installed its first 200-ton capacity Ocrim mill 20 years ago and since then has trained a skilled mill workforce who are thoroughly familiar with Ocrim equipment and are able to get the best possible results from it. Ocrim’s
strong technical support team is well used to working with Aya’s food technologists and the Aya team has won the professional respect of Ocrim over the years that the two
companies have worked closely together.
Despite diversification into other wheat-based industrial activities, Aya has always maintained wheat flour as the anchor of its business, and as a consequence has achieved and maintained a solid customer base not only in Uganda but also in the sub-regional export market.
