The family of the late Elishamah Ssesaazzi, a student who passed away under unclear circumstances in the school dormitory, has accused Seeta High School and its owner, State Minister for Education Hon. JC Muyingo, of hiding evidence and being complicit in the student’s death.
According to Edward Ntale, the uncle of the deceased, when the family received news of Elishamah’s passing, they requested that the school not remove the body until they arrived. However, upon arrival, they found that police had already taken the body to Mulago Hospital for a postmortem examination.
The family claims that the school administration was uncooperative and evasive, and that the postmortem report did not indicate any signs of suicide, contrary to the school’s initial claims.
Furthermore, the family alleges that Minister Muyingo did not offer any condolences or financial assistance, and even prohibited fellow students from attending the burial in Masaka District.

The family has disputed allegations that Elishamah took his own life over a debt of Shs 2,000,000, stating that they had sponsored his trip to Tanzania and provided him with sufficient pocket money. They also claim that Elishamah had over Shs 3,000,000 in his savings box at home.
The family is now seeking justice and plans to sue the school and Minister Muyingo for neglect and murder. They also allege that this incident is not isolated and that the school has a history of covering up similar incidents to protect its reputation.
