The contest for 1st Vice President has already divided members into camps, with many pushing for new leadership and fresh ideas, while others not yet decided.
Of the three candidates, only Kayangwe has unveiled his manifesto, leaving his competitors’ plans unclear. It’s no wonder he’s tipped by many to win.
According to UOC Returning Officer Brian Kajubi’s circular (Ref: UOC02/AGM/2025), all three candidates have qualified and had been nominated as of Friday, March 14, 2025, and the final verdict will be known on election day.
Kayangwe’s manifesto outlines a bold vision centered on promoting Olympic values across Uganda, developing grassroots sports programs to nurture future talent and supporting athletes in their pursuit of excellence through better funding and facilities.

Despite Kayangwe revealing his plans, Nsubuga and Otucet have kept their strategies under wraps, leaving UOC members curious about their future vision for the committee.
According to the UOC circular dated March 11, 2025, 33 registered national sports federations and associations are eligible to vote except two, Uganda Lacrosse Association and Uganda Skating Federation.
These bodies are ineligible due to unpaid subscription fees by December 2024.
As of March 11, 2025, only 11 federations and associations have already cleared their 2025 subscription fees, ensuring their ability to vote.
These are, Uganda Boxing Federation, Uganda Rugby Union, Uganda Table Tennis Association, Uganda Netball Federation, Gymnastics Association of Uganda, Uganda Squash Rackets Association, Uganda Badminton Association, Uganda DanceSport Federation, Uganda Athletics Federation and Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA).
The UOC elections are expected to be highly competitive, with key positions like 1st Vice President and assistant general secretary taking center stage.
With Kayangwe pushing a transformative agenda, he is favorite to scoop the position.
The Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) was constituted in 1950 and recognized by the IOC in 1956. The UOC General Assembly is the legislative and highest organ of the Committee which is constituted and composed as described in the relevant provisions of the UOC Statutes.
The results of these elections will shape the direction of Uganda’s Olympic movement as the country continues to build toward Paris 2024 and future international competitions.
