Celebrated entrepreneur and bar proprietor, Simon Rusoke, popularly known as Simo, has made a significant move in the hospitality industry by acquiring Isabella bar, located in Ntinda, Kampala.
As part of his expansion strategy, Simo is rebranding the establishment as Bitash Cuisine, Bar and Lounge.

With his vast experience and expertise in the bar business, Simo aims to transform Bitash into a premier hangout spot in the city, offering a unique blend of cuisine, ambiance, and entertainment. This acquisition is set to reinforce Simo’s position as a leading bar business owner in Uganda.
Simo’s journey in the bar business dates back to before the COVID-19 pandemic, when he dominated the nightlife scene in Kampala. His establishments were renowned for their exceptional service, vibrant atmosphere, and extensive beverage selection. However, with the onset of the pandemic, Simo took a strategic break, reassessing his business model and seeking opportunities for growth.
In recent times, Simo has been making strides in the industry, with the launch of The OBs, a plush bar located opposite Shell Uganda in Wandegeya. This establishment has quickly become a favorite among Kampala’s socialites and entertainment enthusiasts.
Now, with the acquisition of Isabella bar and its rebranding as Bitash Cuisine, Bar and Lounge, Simo is poised to reclaim his spot as the top bar entrepreneur in Uganda. Bitash is expected to offer a unique dining and entertainment experience, featuring an extensive menu, craft cocktails, and live music performances.
Uganda’s bar business has been thriving in recent years, driven by the country’s ranking as one of the highest alcohol consumers in the world. According to a 2016 survey by AFKinsider, Uganda was ranked as the second-drunkest African country, after Nigeria. Another survey by the Global Status on Alcohol and Health in 2014 found Uganda to have the highest per-capita alcohol consumption in East Africa.
