In a gesture aimed at empowering vulnerable groups and fostering community policing, Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Christopher Damulira, Director of Crime Intelligence at Uganda Police, donated two motorcycles to boda boda riders in Nansana on Sunday.

The donation is part of the police force’s efforts to engage with vulnerable groups, particularly ghetto youths and boda boda riders, who are often exploited by criminal elements. By providing economic empowerment and support, the police force aims to reduce the vulnerability of these groups to criminal manipulation.
“I was honored to donate these motorcycles to support the livelihoods of these hardworking individuals,” AIGP Damulira said. “By investing in their well-being, we are determined to eliminate any chance of manipulation by criminals and foster a safer and more secure community.”

AIGP Damulira emphasized the importance of building trust and partnerships with the public, highlighting the police force’s commitment to ensuring every Ugandan feels secure in their community. He noted that community policing is a critical component of the police force’s strategy to prevent crime and maintain law and order.
This initiative is part of the police force’s ongoing efforts to reduce crime rates, which have shown significant progress in 2024. AIGP Damulira attributed this success to the collaboration between law enforcement and the public, urging citizens to continue supporting efforts to maintain law and order.
AIGP Damulira’s dedication to serving the nation has been recognized through various awards, including the Exemplary Order Service Class 2 medal, the second-highest medal in the Uganda Police Force. His leadership and commitment to transforming the Crime Intelligence Directorate have significantly contributed to the prevailing peace in the country.
The donation ceremony was attended by boda boda riders, local leaders, and police officers. The event marked a significant milestone in the police force’s efforts to engage with vulnerable groups and promote community policing.

During the ceremony, AIGP Damulira also emphasized the importance of road safety and responsible riding practices among boda boda riders. He encouraged the riders to prioritize their safety and the safety of their passengers, and to work closely with the police to prevent crime and maintain order.
The donation of motorcycles is expected to have a positive impact on the livelihoods of the boda boda riders and their families. It is also expected to foster greater collaboration and trust between the police and the community, ultimately contributing to a safer and more secure Uganda.
