The launch event, attended by various officials, including the Resident District Commissioner (RDC), marked a crucial milestone in the efforts to improve security and promote economic growth in the area. AIGP Damulira’s remarks emphasized the importance of community-led initiatives in driving positive change.

AIGP Damulira highlighted the critical link between crime and poverty, noting that economic empowerment is key to reducing crime rates. He emphasized that by providing local youths with economic opportunities, the ghetto structure aims to address the root causes of crime, rather than just its symptoms.
The AIGP stressed the importance of collaboration between security forces and local communities in fighting crime. He encouraged the youths to work closely with the police to identify and apprehend criminals, rather than relying on unnecessary and wrongful arrests. At the launch of the ghetto structure, Damulira noted that there has been a significant reduction in wrongful arrests, thanks to improved intelligence gathering.

AIGP Damulira encouraged the youths to save their money in the SACCO, rather than wasting it on betting and drugs. He emphasized that by pooling their resources and working together, the youths can access credit facilities, start businesses, and improve their economic prospects.
Damulira commended President Yoweri Museveni for initiating the concept of ghetto structures in 2022, aimed at empowering local communities. He praised the President’s efforts to empower youths through funding skills centers, noting that these initiatives have the potential to drive positive change and promote economic growth.
In a stern warning, Damulira cautioned the youths against being manipulated by powerful individuals for their own selfish interests. He urged them to reject such characters and instead focus on building their communities through legitimate means.

The launch of the Luweero ghetto structure marks a significant step towards promoting community development, reducing crime, and empowering local youths. As the initiative continues to gain momentum, it is expected to have a positive impact on Luweero and surrounding areas, improving security and promoting economic growth.

AIGP Damulira’s leadership and commitment to community-led initiatives have been instrumental in driving this project forward, and his efforts are expected to yield positive results in the months and years to come.
