Ntumgamo-Trinity Vocational College, located in Ntungamo Municipality along Kategaya Road opposite Ntungamo Resort Hotel, held its highly anticipated student leadership elections today, drawing excitement from both students and the local community.
The highlight of the day was the closely contested race for Guild President, which captured the attention of the entire college. Mr. Beyongera Joel emerged as the winner with 111 votes, defeating his closest rival, Muhwezi Amon, who secured 76 votes.
The tight race generated enthusiasm and a spirited atmosphere throughout the day.Other key leadership positions were also decided in the day-long electoral exercise. Asiimirwe Mukama Rosette was elected Vice Guild President with 108 votes, surpassing Komugisha Promise who garnered 82 votes.
Rosette’s win was widely celebrated as a vote of confidence in her leadership and vision for student welfare.In the academic ministry, Tukwatanise Keneth won decisively, securing 118 votes against Arinda Blessing’s 58.
The significant margin reflected students’ strong demand for better academic representation and services.The Religious Minister position proved to be one of the most competitive, with Ampurira Sedrack narrowly defeating Namanya Paddy by just six votes — 87 to 81 — underscoring the importance of spiritual life within the college community.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Nduhukire Nathan, Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, officially declared the winners.“Being the chairperson of today’s elections, and with the powers entrusted to me, I declare the above leading candidates as the winners,” he announced to cheers from the gathered crowd.
Deputy Principal Mr. Arinaitwe Amos congratulated the winners and called for calm and unity. “Celebrate very well, but don’t let your excitement result in chaos,” he advised.
His message resonated with the students, many of whom expressed joy while maintaining order.
Elections Patron Mr. Tumwesige Lawrence also addressed the gathering, urging the newly elected leaders to rise above any election-related divisions.“Keep peace and work towards the betterment of the student body,” he said.
The event was graced by several senior staff members, including the Dean of Students Mr. Nuwarimpa Justus and lecturers Mr. Nuwagaba Didas and Mr. Ainebyoona Peterson, reflecting the administration’s strong support for student leadership and democratic engagement.
As the day came to a close, a wave of celebration swept through Ntungamo town.
Students organized a jubilant convoy of cars, turning the streets into a sea of music, cheers, and dancing.
For nearly 30 minutes, normal business in the town center came to a halt as the procession moved through, symbolizing a new chapter in the college’s student governance.
The newly elected leaders are expected to assume office in the coming days and begin working on their mandates to improve student life, promote academic excellence, and foster unity within the college community.
