Kabale-Aspiring Member of Parliament Counsel Elvis Twenda has called on voters to disregard what he termed as baseless propaganda aimed at discrediting his candidacy in the upcoming National Resistance Movement (NRM) party primaries, set for July 17, 2025.
Speaking during Day Two of his campaign trail across Muyebe, Kafunjo, and Ntarabana parishes in Buhara Subcounty, Twenda strongly refuted claims suggesting he is being used by political figures solely to secure the NRM flag without intent to contest in the general elections.
“I am a man of integrity and cannot be bought or influenced by fellow politicians,” Twenda stated.
“Such propaganda is intended to tarnish my name and mislead the electorate. I urge my opponents to engage in clean, respectful, and issue-based campaigns, not hatred and lies.”
Twenda, a professional lawyer, emphasized the importance of upholding truth, transparency, and dignity in leadership. He encouraged his supporters to stay focused and united as they push to secure the NRM flag and ultimately win the general elections.
He also addressed the persistent underdevelopment of Ndorwa East, blaming it on past voting patterns that saw leaders elected without aligning with the ruling party’s development agenda.
“For years, Ndorwa East has lagged behind because we failed to elect leaders who understand and support the NRM vision,” he noted. “This election is our opportunity to revive the NRM’s presence and lay a firm foundation for meaningful development in our communities.”

Twenda’s message resonated with large crowds gathered at each of his rallies, many of whom cheered and expressed confidence in his ability to represent their interests both within the party and in national Parliament.
Counsel Twenda was accompanied by a host of local leaders and aspiring candidates, including Enid Orimwikyiriza, LC3 Councilor for Kitohwa Parish and Chief Church Warden of Rwesasi Church of Parish in Kaharo Subcounty; Betty Matsiko, aspiring LC3 Councilor for Muyebe Parish; Gad Kukundakwe, LC3 Councilor for Buhara Parish; Ahabwe Justin, LC3 Councilor for Kafunjo and Deputy Speaker; Stephen Katongore, aspiring LC3 Chairperson for Buhara Subcounty; Atusasire Apophia, aspiring LC5 Woman Councilor; Rev. Wilson Bagyendana, aspiring LC3 Chairperson; Niwayamba Tophil, aspiring Male LC5 Councilor; and Niwagaba Robert, Councilor for Kahondo Parish in Maziba Subcounty.
With just weeks to the NRM primaries, Twenda is expected to ramp up his grassroots engagements across all parishes of Ndorwa East, seeking to consolidate support and deliver a message of unity, integrity, and development-driven leadership.
