National Water and Sewerage Corporation Managing Director Eng. Dr. Silver Mugisha has responded to recent allegations circulating online, attributing them to political opponents in his home district of Bushenyi.
In a statement addressed to the public, Mugisha said he has been following “efforts to drag @NWSCMD into certain things” and wanted to set the record straight.
“I have been at @nwsc_ug for about 32 years and we have tried to do things administratively right, albeit some gaps,” he stated.
Mugisha said the online claims are being spearheaded by political rivals in Bushenyi, and are aimed at diverting attention from his work at the utility. He did not detail the specific allegations but maintained that NWSC operates within established administrative and governance frameworks.
“Challenges exist in any institution, but we have consistently pursued corrective measures and remain committed to transparency and accountability,” he added.

Under Mugisha’s leadership since 2013, NWSC has expanded water coverage and infrastructure across Uganda. The corporation is regularly cited in government reports for improved service delivery and financial performance among public utilities.
He urged the public and stakeholders to rely on verified information from NWSC’s official channels rather than unverified claims online.
The corporation has not issued a separate formal statement, but officials say NWSC will continue to engage the public directly on matters affecting service delivery.
