The Los Angeles Lakers have signed forward Arthur Kaluma to a two-way contract, making him the first Ugandan to sign an NBA contract.
Kaluma (6’7″, 225) appeared in 40 regular season and Tip-off Tournament games as a reserve for the Lakers’ G League team during the 2025-26 season.
He averaged 13.8 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 24.4 minutes, while shooting 37.8 percent from 3-point range.
He scored in double figures 29 times during regular season and Tip-Off Tournament play, including seven games with 20 or more points.
Kaluma helped the Lakers earn the Western Conference’s top seed with a 26-10 record before advancing to the NBA G League Western Conference Finals.
The 24-year-old recently competed for the Lakers in the California Classic and Las Vegas Summer Leagues.
Across seven summer league appearances, he averaged 17.3 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 23.0 minutes while shooting 51.6 percent from the field and 44.8 percent from 3-point range.
In five games in Las Vegas, Kaluma averaged a team-high 18.6 points, helping lead the Lakers to a 4-0 record in pool play and a berth in the tournament’s semifinals.
Kaluma appeared in 134 games (131 starts) across four collegiate seasons at Texas (2024-25), Kansas State (2023-24) and Creighton (2021-23).
Kaluma holds dual citizenship in the United States and Uganda and has represented the Ugandan national team in international competition.
Kaluma will wear No. 47 for the Purple and Gold.
