Game Jam 2026 Ends, Showcasing Uganda’s Rising Game Development Talent

Kampala, Uganda — Game Jam 2026 came to a close this Sunday after a high-energy 24-hour build session that brought together developers, creatives, and storytellers to design original games inspired by real-world themes and Ugandan experiences.

Running from Saturday 4:00 PM to Sunday 4:00 PM, the event challenged participants to conceptualize and prototype games across themes such as conservation, food culture, transportation, and heritage, pushing teams to merge creativity with problem-solving.

By the end of the sprint, multiple teams had produced playable concepts that reflected both technical ability and strong cultural grounding.


Top Winners and Their Creations

1st Place – UGX 2,500,000
Endangered – Code Chaos
A conservation-focused game centered on the preservation and protection of endangered species, built around interactive conservation puzzles that challenge players to think critically about environmental impact.

2nd Place – UGX 1,500,000
Nyanya Mbisi – Loop Studio
A fast-paced, culturally rooted game inspired by Uganda’s iconic street food, the Rolex. The experience captures the pressure of managing a street food business, balancing speed, customer satisfaction, and delivery.

3rd Place – UGX 1,000,000
Last Hope – Night Owls
A survival-driven conservation concept exploring environmental resilience and the consequences of ecological neglect.

Other Notable Projects:
Dynasty – Code Rancheo (Culture and Heritage)
Border to Boda – Mazuka Interactive (Transportation and E-Mobility)

All participating teams will continue to receive mentorship, technical support, and development guidance through Tech Anatomy, reinforcing the event’s long-term focus on growth beyond the competition.

Building a Gaming Community and Enabling Ecosystem

David Gonahasa, Team Lead of Industry 4.0+, highlighted the broader vision and government support behind the initiative:

“Through the Engineering Development and Innovation Center, we are committed to creating more pathways and opportunities for young innovators. Platforms like this Game Jam are part of a bigger effort to grow Uganda’s digital and creative economy.”
