Nakaseke – President Yoweri Museveni on Tuesday campaigned in Nakaseke District, where he urged farmers to adopt modern farming practices, including growing pastures, to improve productivity and household incomes.
Addressing a rally at Nakaseke District Headquarters grounds in Butalangu, Museveni said many farmers were underutilizing their small pieces of land, yet they could achieve higher yields through better planning and pasture management.
“Instead of moving long distances in search of pasture, farmers can grow pastures at home and produce enough food for their animals,” Museveni said.
He added that farmers with limited land should keep fewer animals, noting that one acre can support up to eight cows if properly managed.
The President highlighted peace, development, and job creation as key achievements of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) government, saying Uganda had remained stable for the past four decades after years of turmoil.
He cited road infrastructure as one of the government’s major development priorities, mentioning improvements on roads linking Luweero, Butalangu, Semuto, and Gulu, with plans to extend the Luweero–Butalangu road to Ngoma and Kiboga.
Museveni also called on voters to elect leaders who focus on critical areas such as roads, electricity, and wealth creation, saying these form the foundation for sustainable development.
The First Lady, Maama Janet Museveni, thanked residents for supporting the NRM and safeguarding development gains, urging them to turn up in large numbers and vote for the party in the upcoming elections.
Earlier, Speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among thanked the government for allocating funds for road maintenance in the district but appealed for additional support, citing challenges with road equipment and unresolved issues affecting communities living on National Forestry Authority land.
The NRM Deputy Secretary General, Rose Namayanja-Nsereko, hailed the President for turning Nakaseke from a highly turmoil land into a peace cradle.
She also thanked the President for the good roads in the area which have now eased transportation of both passengers and agricultural products.
Namayanja highlighted that the President had set the pace for farmers whereby the productivity of milk had greatly improved.

Museveni emphasized wealth creation and job generation, noting that industrial parks and presidential skilling hubs were helping young people acquire practical skills to start businesses and create employment.
He said he noted all the concerns such as absentee landlords, veterans’ issues, old road machines and forest issues.
