The Muljibhai Madhvani Foundation has announced a UGX 750 million scholarship fund for the 2026–2027 academic year, reinforcing its longstanding commitment to widening access to quality higher education for outstanding Ugandan students.
Since its inception in 2003, the Foundation has invested billions of shillings in scholarships, enabling thousands of students to pursue university education and go on to become impactful professionals across various sectors.
The merit-based scholarships—awarded based on academic excellence and financial need—will support both undergraduate and postgraduate studies in priority fields aligned with Uganda’s development agenda.
Speaking at the launch, the Chairman of the Board – Gerald Ssendawula, emphasized the transformative power of education:
“This programme represents far more than financial support. It reflects our belief that education is the most powerful investment a nation can make in its future. Our goal is to ensure that talent—not circumstance—determines opportunity.” SaidSsendawula
The 2026–2027 scholarship cycle is anchored on the theme “Torch of Legacy,” symbolizing the continuity of opportunity, leadership, and responsibility across generations. The Foundation encourages beneficiaries to not only excel academically but also contribute meaningfully to their communities and the nation.
Priority fields include Agriculture, Engineering, Medicine, Information Technology, Environmental Studies, Architecture, Business, and other disciplines critical to national growth.
Applications are now open, with the deadline set for 30 April 2026. Eligible students are encouraged to apply within the stipulated timeframe
