Kampala, Uganda – The Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) and Makerere University Business School (MUBS) have signed a collaborative agreement to promote a national quality culture, aligning with UNBS’ five-year strategy to enhance safety and quality standards.
The partnership aims to educate and train stakeholders on standardization, with UNBS committing to establish a National Standards and Quality Institute.
MUBS will sponsor a staff member to pursue a PhD in standards, fostering expertise and cascading the standardization agenda.”This collaboration will enhance Uganda’s labor competitiveness, investor confidence, and economic growth,” said Eng. James Kasigwa, UNBS Executive Director.
“We will ensure Ugandan products meet national, regional, and global standards.”

Prof. Moses Muhwezi, MUBS Principal, emphasized the importance of nurturing quality graduates, staff, and products. “We are committed to assisting government achieve a ten-fold growth through standardization.”The partnership supports Uganda’s ambitious growth strategy, focusing on exports, import substitution, and industrialization.
