Late legendary Paul Kato Lubwama has today Wednesday finally been laid to rest at his ancestral home in Busese, Nkozi.
Lubwama, a former Member of Parliament and a renowned entertainer, was buried amid tears, tributes and countless speeches from his family, friends, politicians from all walks of life and fans. Lubwama died on 8 June 2023 due to a heart attack at Stana Medical Centre in Bunamwaya.
Lubwama’s funeral was attended by thousands of mourners who came to pay their last respects to the fallen artist and politician. Among them were fellow MPs, artists, comedians, musicians, media personalities, and cultural leaders.

They eulogized Lubwama as a talented, generous, and humorous person who touched many lives through his work and deeds.
Lubwama’s children praised their father for being a role model and a mentor to them. They said he taught them the values of hard work, honesty and respect. They said they would miss his jokes, advice, and guidance.
Lubwama’s colleagues in the entertainment industry also celebrated his legacy and contribution to the arts and culture in Uganda.
They said he was a pioneer and a legend who inspired many young artists to pursue their dreams. They said he was also a friend and a brother who helped them in times of need.
Lubwama’s political allies also hailed his service to the nation and his constituency of Rubaga South. They said he was a vocal and fearless leader who advocated for the rights and interests of his people.
They said he was also a patriot who participated in the struggle for democracy and justice in Uganda.
Lubwama’s body was taken to the National Theatre on Monday where he was honored by his fellow artists and fans.
Lubwama was born on 16 August 1970 in Kampala. He started his career in the entertainment industry as an actor, comedian, musician, and radio host. He joined politics in 2016 and won the Rubaga South parliamentary seat as an independent candidate.
He lost the seat in 2021 to Aloysius Mukasa.
Over Shs 500 million was spent on his funeral since his death a week ago.
