All is set with the East Africa Secondary School games kick off with 2,000+ participants just hours away.
Participants for this year’s East Africa Secondary School Games will officially arrive at Bukedea and Amus College on Friday, ahead of the games that start this weekend.

Over two thousand participants from Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, and South Sudan are expected to compete in sixteen sporting disciplines over two weeks.

Barely hours to the kickoff of the long-awaited 21st edition of the Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSSA) Games in the Bukedea district,
Bukedea Comprehensive, and Amus College Schools are set to receive teams for the championship.

The championship that is slated to run from today to August 27 witnesses the arrival of teams from Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda,Burundi, and the host Uganda.
The two Bukedea district-based schools have set a precedent with amazing infrastructure that is ready for the championship.


Bukedea Comprehensive School where the girls’ contestants for the secondary and primary categories are accommodated has completed semi-Olympic size swimming pool, indoor multi-purpose sports complex,and a 10,000-seater stadium.
Amus College School on the other hand, where the boys’ teams will be accommodated has put up five football grounds including a 10,000-seater stadium with an 8-lane running track as well four natural grass pitches and all-weather volleyball, netball, handball, and basketball courts that are also ready for use.
“We don’t have any problem again,
everything’s in place starting from the
accommodation, security, football field,a
running track and swimming pool are ready for use,” said Jonas Gumisiriza, the
managing director of Bukedea
Comprehensive School.
“We are not only going to host the championship, but we shall also be in a position to compete and win accolades,” Gumisirisa said
Bukedea Comprehensive School who are currently the national volleyball champions under the boys’ and girls’ category will have it’s football opening match on Sunday, August 18, against Tanzanite Secondary School From Tanzania.
“We are excited and fully prepared for this moment. The boys have worked hard, and we understand the importance of this game,especially as hosts. Tanzanite Secondary School is a strong team, but we are ready to give it our all. Our goal is to start strong and show that we are more than capable of competing at this level,” said Ronald Ssali coach,of Bukedea Comprehensive School’s
Ssali emphasized the importance of staying focused and not being overwhelmed by the occasion.

“It’s going to be an intense match, with a lot of eyes on us. But we are prepared mentally and physically. We aim to play our game and take it one step at a time,” he said.
Samuel Opio, the manager of the girls’ team at Amus College School is optimistic that hosting this year’s FEASSSA games is a sign that this year’s girls’ football trophy will remain in Bukedea and Teso as a whole.

“Last year we needed in 3rd position at the FEASSSA games hosted in Huye Rwanda, but this time we shall try our best to ensure that the girls’ overall trophy remains in Uganda,”said Opio.
This will be the first time the Teso region is hosting such a championship, expected to have over 3000 students from East Africa schools.
