Kabale-Kabale District has a new National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag bearer for the LC5 Chairmanship after Denis Nzeirwe was declared the winner in a hotly contested primary election held on Thursday.
Nzeirwe defeated the incumbent LC5 Chairman, Nelson Nshangabasheija, with a commanding lead, garnering a total of 43,667 votes against Nshangabasheija’s 33,860 votes.
The announcement was made by Kabale District NRM Registrar, Babra Ainebyona, who praised the general conduct of the election and urged residents to maintain peace and unity in the aftermath of the results.“We commend the voters for their active participation and call for continued peace and harmony,” Ainebyona stated.
“Let us support the winner and work together for the development of Kabale District.”
The declaration marks a significant political shift in the district, setting the stage for Nzeirwe to contest in the 2026 general elections as the NRM candidate for the LC5 chairmanship.
His victory signals a change in leadership and direction for the ruling party in the district.
