Kampala businessman Ronald Ssemakula, popularly known as Rubeleto, has died in a fatal accident.

The owner of Rubeleto Construction Company died on the spot following a crash on Entebbe Road.

Rubeleto made headlines years ago for his splashy lifestyle. He became a city fixture with his fleet of personalized luxury cars and big spending at Kampala’s plush hangouts like Club Silk.

But his life was also surrounded by controversy. He was once arrested and charged with shooting and injuring two people in Kampala. Rubeleto denied the charges.

Who Was Rubeleto?
Rubeleto, real name Eng. Ronald Ssemakula, was a prominent Ugandan civil engineer, real estate tycoon, and businessman. He founded and directed Rubeleto Construction Concern Limited — a multi-billion shilling construction and real estate firm based in Kampala.

The name “Rubeleto” was actually a nickname inherited from his late father, Mukasa Rubeleto, a prominent coffee farmer in Masaka/Rakai. His father’s bicycle used to make a distinct “rubeleto-rubeleto” roaring sound.

Beyond construction, his business interests spanned agriculture and heavy-duty transport. He managed a fleet of lorries and commuter minibuses across Uganda.

In the early 2010s, he was a regular in Uganda’s entertainment and social scene, often making headlines for his luxury car collection and nightlife presence.
