The Nansana Police Division has made significant progress in addressing criminal activities within its jurisdiction.
Yesterday the 16th of June 2023, a targeted operation was conducted based on intelligence information, leading to the arrest of individuals involved in a panga-wielding gang responsible for a series of robberies.
During the operation, one suspect, Ssabagereka Julius, was apprehended after a stolen television was found in his possession. Following his interrogation, he provided crucial information leading to the arrest of additional suspects. Among those detained are Isingoma Lwegaba alias Wasswa, Ddumba Faizo alias General Faizo, Muwonge Joseph, and Mutebe John.
These individuals have been identified as key members of the criminal gang operating in Nansana Division and its neighboring areas.

The investigations have revealed that this gang has been involved in various criminal activities, including the robbery of televisions, mobile phones, and cash. Their modus operandi involves monitoring individuals in bars and subsequently ambushing them on their way home. The recovered evidence includes two televisions, two pangas used in the robberies, and four suspected stolen mobile phones.
A statement from Police reads: “It has come to our attention that the gang is allegedly headed by Lukwago Abbu alias Abasi, who is still at large. We are actively pursuing leads to locate and apprehend Abasi, as well as any other associates and promoters associated with this criminal network.
In light of these recent developments, the Nansana Police Division is taking immediate action to address the issue comprehensively. We will conduct thorough interrogations of the arrested suspects to gather additional information on their criminal activities and potential collaborators. Furthermore, we will intensify investigations to recover any additional stolen items that may be in their possession.
To ensure the safety and security of the community, we are deploying additional resources, including increased foot patrols and motorized patrols within the division. We will also be collaborating with relevant stakeholders and community members to enhance our crime prevention efforts.
