Kampala, 25 September 2026 — Tier IV microfinance institutions have been urged to strengthen governance and leadership to ensure sustainable growth and improved service delivery to underserved communities.
The call was made by Mr. Moses Kaggwa, Commissioner for Economic Affairs at the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, during the official launch of the Strategic Capacity Building Conference for the Association of NDT Microfinance Institutions at MOTIV Creations, Bugolobi, yesterday.
Held under the theme “Built to Last: Governance, Leadership and Transformation for Sustainable Tier IV Institutions,” the two-day conference ran from 24–25 September 2026.
Mr. Kaggwa noted that Tier IV institutions play an important role in providing affordable credit to women entrepreneurs and urged the sector to prioritise strong governance and effective leadership as foundations for sustainable growth.
The conference was organised in partnership with the GROW Project, Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development, and the World Bank.
