12 dead after drinking Waragi in Arua

General inquiries have been opened at the two Police Stations to investigate these incidences.

The territorial police of Arua City and Madi-okollo district are investigating incidences of sudden death of 12 people and intoxication of several others due to suspected poisoning.

They were suspected to have got problems after drinking a locally manufactured waragi labelled as City 5, Pineapple Flavored Gin.

According to Angucia Josephine PRO West Nile Region,four suspects have been arrested from places of drinking and manufacturing to assist in investigations.

The hard drink in question is said to have killed the 12.

Meanwhile the owner of the shop that sold out the drink in Geria village, Yachi parish, Ogoko sub county in Madi Okollo district is among those rushed to the hospital for treatment after the alleged intoxication. 

General inquiries have been opened at the two Police Stations to investigate these incidences.
