COSASE grills Uganda Airlines CEO Jennifer Bamuturaki for hiring Abbavater PR firm to provide media and advertising services at an ‘inflated’ cost of Shs174.6m per month yet Star Leo and WMC Africa had quoted lower prices of Shs36m and Shs35m, respectively.

Chair Joel Ssenyonyi says Bamuturaki and Abbavater use the same box office number.

Bamuturaki had requested the committee to postpone the meeting to the second week of September in a letter that was purportedly written by her and signed by the manager of Quality Assurance at Uganda Airlines.

The Uganda Airlines CEO had also requested that the COSASE does their investigation of its activities but to be conducted without the presence of the media.

According to the airline boss, media coverage of the probe is harming the company’s reputation.

Bamuturaki was then reported to be hosting the African Airlines Association Secretary General, Abderahmane Berthé, in Kampala. A thing the commission said seemed to be like an excuse.

The summit is focused on strategic cooperation in areas that will accelerate African air transport growth and allow the continent to play a more significant role on the world stage.
