The search for Miss Tourism Uganda started off early this year, and as has been the norm, the exercise kicked off with a search for regional queens.

On Saturday, June 10th, therefore, at Mountains of the Moon Hotel, Fort Portal, the grand finale for Miss Tourism Tooro region was held.

The race saw Mrikatete Michelle crowned as Miss Tourism Toro, with Karungi Cynthia and Nyagoma King being first runner-up and second runner-up respectively.

With this year’s theme being  “Greening Tourism”, the finalists were also advised to advocate for the protection of the diminishing glaciers in Fort Portal.

All three finalists, as is the case in the other regions, will go ahead to represent their regions at the national level, on September 9th, 2023 at the Kampala Serena Hotel.

Meanwhile, other regions like West Nile, Teso, Bunyoro, Ankole, Busoga, and Karamoja are yet to go through the process, and as Miss Tourism Uganda national race is near.

As always, university students have been heavily involved in this year’s race, something that makes the contests vibrant.
