Today on 20th June 2023, a family of Kigemuzi in the company of UPDF’s Col. Sam Ntambwire invaded a 5-acre piece that belongs to King’s College, Budo. The family vowed to take over the land and evict the school farm, claiming that the land on the school has been farmed since 1987 belongs to them.

The family of Kigemuzi has since 2018 laid claim on the land, at one time suing the school in the courts of law but lost. The family also went ahead and sold the land to a one-land broker of Syptech properties. The broker tried but failed to forcefully evict the school farm.

The family claims that their late grandfather owned a kibanja on the school farm in 1975, which they left when he died, only to come back in 2018!

The family has also tried to use state house officials like Ms. Suzan Abbo to help them in their pursuit to grab the school land.

The school recently petitioned President Museveni over the matter. The president then directed the state minister for lands Mr. Sam Maynaja to handle the matter. Mr. Mayanja called for a meeting slated for 21st June-2023.

However, on the eve of the meeting, the family, led by Col. Sam Ntambirwe invaded the land and pronounced themselves owners, in total disregard of the president’s directive.
