RUKUNGIRI –Police in Rukungiri District have launched investigations into a fatal road accident that claimed a 36-year-old pedestrian.
According to ASP Elly Maate, the Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson, Aggrey Kwesiga, 36, a resident of Nyarushanje Sub County in Rukungiri District was killed today morning by an Isuzu Bus belonging to Star Link Bus Company (UBF 966J) at Kebisoni Trading Centre along the Rukungiri-Ntungamo Road.
Maate revealed that the bus driven by Yusuf Muhozi, 49, which was enroute to Kampala knocked the deceased as it tried to stop at the trading centre to pick up passengers. Maate told our reporter in the afternoon that the deceased, along with his mentally-ill brother was run over by the bus.He was rushed to Kebisoni Health Centre III but succumbed to injuries upon arrival at the health facility.
Maate adds that the incident has been registered at Rukungiri Central Police Station under Reference Number TAR 106/2023 with investigations underway.
