The Makerere University Endowment Fund has launched the fourth edition of the Makerere Run, an event aimed at supporting students living with disabilities and enhancing inclusivity within the university community.

The launch was presided over by Hon Balaam Barugahara, the Minister of Children and Youth Affairs.
The proceeds from this year’s run will go towards the construction of a state-of-the-art Students’ Centre and Disability Support Unit at Makerere University.
The #MakRun2024 which is scheduled for 18th August 2024, will be held under the theme, “Run for Students with Disabilities,” highlighting our commitment to creating a more inclusive academic environment where every student can thrive.

The Students Centre will feature essential facilities such as a business hub, innovation center, dining area, and a dedicated Disability Support Unit, ensuring that students with disabilities have access to the resources they need to excel in their studies.

Minister Barugahara commended the Edowment Fund for this great cause and assured of government support.
He also commended students for the discipline they display lately. He also thanked the univeristy administration for inspiring discipline within students.
He also promised continued support to Makerere University and asked the university administration to officially invite the president as the chief runner.
