Katikiro Charles Peter Mayiga has commended Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Christopher Damulira for his exemplary work in transforming the lives of ghetto youths in Kampala.

During a courtesy visit to Bulange Mengo, the seat of the Buganda Kingdom, Katikiro Mayiga lauded AIGP Damulira and his team for their tireless efforts in rehabilitating ghetto youths and empowering them to become productive citizens.

AIGP Damulira’s initiatives have led to a significant reduction in crime rates within the ghettos, as well as the establishment of Savings and Credit Cooperatives (SACCOs) to improve the youths’ livelihoods.

The ghetto representatives, who accompanied AIGP Damulira on the visit, thanked the Katikiro, the Kabaka, and the kingdom for their support and initiatives to combat HIV and drugs.

Katikiro Mayiga urged the ghetto youths to avoid behaviors that can lead to diseases like HIV/AIDS and pledged the kingdom’s support for their initiatives.

The Minister of Youths for Buganda, Hon. Robert Sserwanga, also thanked AIGP Damulira for his innovative approach to addressing the challenges faced by ghetto youths.

AIGP Damulira expressed his gratitude to the Buganda Kingdom for the opportunity to collaborate and contribute to the fight against HIV.

The ghetto representatives, who accompanied AIGP Damulira on the visit, thanked the Katikiro, the Kabaka, and the kingdom for their support and initiatives to combat HIV and drugs.

They also appealed to the kingdom to support the ghetto girl child, who faces numerous challenges, including early pregnancies and diseases.

AIGP Damulira handed over a cash contribution of UGX 5 million from the ghetto structures for this weekend’s Kabaka Marathon, and revealed that the ghetto structure program is a collaborative effort between the Police and Statehouse.

The Katikiro welcomed the ghetto structure and thanked them for joining the Kabaka’s call to fight HIV. He assured the ghetto youths that the kingdom’s doors are always open and encouraged them to work hard and pursue their goals.
