Rukungiri-Christians have been encouraged to embrace unity, love, and cooperation as essential virtues for building strong faith-based communities and bearing witness to the world.
This message was delivered on Sunday by Pastor Alfred Mugarura Kaharata during a thanksgiving mass held at Christ the King Parish in the Eastern Division of Rukungiri Municipality. The mass was in honor of Rev. Father Dr. Julius Turyatorana, the parish priest of Christ the King Parish.
Pastor Alfred emphasized that unity and love are vital for the growth of the Church and the spiritual well-being of Christians. He urged believers to support each other and live as examples of Christ’s teachings in their daily lives.
During the same event, Rev. Father Dr. Julius Turyatorana called on Christians to be generous and caring toward one another. He encouraged them to emulate Christ, who gave himself as a sacrificial lamb for the salvation of all. He urged the congregation to share with the less privileged and to act as ambassadors of peace and unity in their communities.
Fr. Julius also addressed parents and guardians, urging them to avoid using harsh or negative words towards their children. He warned that many of the challenges faced by youth today may be linked to negative declarations made by their parents.
Instead, he encouraged the use of blessings and positive affirmations to guide children toward a better future. The thanksgiving event brought together Christians from across the region, united in worship and celebration.
